Student Handbook

Student Complaints and Petitions

Mitchell Community College values student feedback and is committed to addressing student concerns in a fair, timely, and respectful manner. Students are encouraged to discuss concerns directly with the appropriate instructor, staff member, or administrator whenever possible, as many issues can be resolved informally through open communication.

When a concern cannot be resolved informally, students may utilize the College's established complaint, grievance, appeal, or petition procedures. These processes provide students with an opportunity to present concerns, request exceptions when appropriate, and seek review of decisions affecting their educational experience.

Information regarding student rights, responsibilities, grievances, appeals, and judicial procedures can be found in the Student Rights, Responsibilities, and Judicial Procedures section of this handbook or by contacting the Division of Student Services.

Mitchell Community College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Students who have concerns related to the College's compliance with accreditation standards may review the SACSCOC complaint process. Information regarding accreditation-related complaints is available through SACSCOC.
