Business and Industry Services

Training Programs

General and customized training programs are available to business and industry. These programs are designed to meet specific business or industry needs. They may be held at the business location or at the College. Programs address technical skills, team development, leadership, continuous improvement, safety and more. The cost of these courses varies.

ApprenticeshipNC

Registered Apprenticeships are employer driven training models designed to meet the employer’s needs.  This model is a tool to capture the company’s tribal knowledge. Apprentices receive on-the-job training, related technical instruction, and a progressive wage scale.  Apprentices earn state and national credentials in addition to any credential earned at the community college. Mitchell Community College partners with employers to provide related instruction.  In North Carolina ApprenticeshipNC is the registering agency for the US Department of Labor.

Small Business Center

The Small Business Center (SBC) supports the development of new businesses and the growth of existing businesses by being a community-based provider of training, business counseling, and resource information. Business management training, confidential business counseling services, access to resource libraries and information referral are all at no cost. Services provided by the Small Business Center Network can be customized to suit specific business needs.

NC Edge Customized Training

NC Edge Customized Training provides training to meet the needs of Iredell County Industry– small, intermediate, and large. NC Edge Customized Training is a partnership with the state of North Carolina and the NC Community College System. These training programs are customized and designed cooperatively with industry and college personnel. Training is available to new or existing industries in Iredell County. Training is administered by the College on site at industry locations or at the community college, creating a well-trained workforce. The attraction and retention of highly skilled individuals is key to industry success.
