Definition of Course Type and Enrollment

Traditional Instruction:

A college curriculum or continuing education course in which 100% of the instruction is delivered face-to-face with the faculty member in the physical presence of students. Therefore, students must be physically present in class on or before the census date to be counted as enrolled in the course.

Hybrid Instruction:

A college curriculum or continuing education course with greater than 50% but less than 100% of the instruction is delivered online. Students must complete an assignment/activity in the College's Learning Management System (LMS) or be physically present in class on or before the census date to be counted as enrolled in the course. Since hybrid courses have a seated component, students are expected to attend the seated portion.

Blended Instruction:

A college curriculum or continuing education course in which less than or equal to 50% of the instruction is delivered online. Students must either complete an assignment/activity in the LMS or be physically present in class on or before the census date to be counted as enrolled in the course. Since blended courses have a seated component, students are expected to attend the seated portion.

Online Instruction:

A college curriculum or continuing education course in which 100% of the instruction is delivered online. Students must complete an assignment/ activity in the LMS on or before the census date to be counted as enrolled in the course.

HyFlex (Hybrid Flexible) Instruction:

A college curriculum or continuing education course in which 100% of the instruction is offered face-to-face with the faculty member in a physical classroom, and 100% of the instruction is provided online, allowing students to choose whether to attend classes during regularly scheduled in-person sessions or participate online synchronously or asynchronously. Students must complete an assignment/activity in the LMS or be physically present in class or synchronously on or before the census date to be counted as enrolled in the course.
